Yes :)

But to use a real chessboard under a game online has some advantages: you can test your varistions on the board. Of course you cannot do this in a OTB game ^^

#23 - you shouldn't do that in an online game, either. Most sites explicitly do not allow you to do that. If you use an external board (which I do, frequently), you should keep it synced with the game position at all times.

Any game of sufficient time control I will set up a board and play it that way.

NOW I COULD answer this semi-rhetorical question but then I might be ac-cuss-ed for a second time of being re-redundant. You only get philosophy smack on a chess site...
