Sicilian Defense: Najdorf Variation, Lipnitsky AttackBETA
b5 tries to gain a tempo on the light squared bishop and possibly weaken white's center further with b5. However, the c4-bishop is often better placed on b3 anyway, and weakening the queenside or opening the center too quickly can sometimes backfire on black since white is the one with the lead in development.
The Lipnitsky (or Fischer-Sozin) Attack, is a critical attempt for an advantage in the Najdorf. White plays as actively with the pieces as possible, and attempts to pry open the black king with a quick f4-f5 pawn break.
