@achja Also Lasker was over 50 when he won NY 1924 & then he won in Zurich around 10 years later I believe he was 54 & 64 . Of course they were Middle- Age not old' right ?

I remember that I saw GM David Bronstein, a former world champion contender, live in Dieren Open tourney, and I was surprised to see his relatively low 2400+ rating. Some other time I had seen GM Westerinen with a rather low rating, but when I saw David Bronstein there it occurred to me that when chess players get older their ratings can drop a lot perhaps due to "decay" and lack of stamina. Standard OTB chess can require hours of attention and concentration. It is not the first time I am impressed with Michael Adams being almost 2700 rated, and yes, thanks all for your comments, impressed with Anand and Shirov too.
