That’s not how the phrase goes? For all extensive purposes, ??? Every point anyone makes about the current state of AI is false and misleading, so in all extensive purposes AI is fake, a con, grifting ... other than that, how have I misused “the phrase”
Everyone mentioning AI is like mentioning Aliens are in our solar system... grifters setting in on humanities willingness to tell and give air and belief to tales about the dark surrounding the fire of paleo man...

you didn't misuse the phrase, you got the phrase wrong. It's "for all intents and purposes"

It's common for words to have different meanings, context and audience matters. for example,
Nailing - a carpenter talking about nailing means something different to a horny teen talking about nailing.
You can look up the definition of AI and see for yourself that there is more than one definition.
You're right, though, it's difficult to have meaningful conversation when someone puts their own unique meaning on a phrase that has well defined meanings. It takes a lot of effort and some guess work.

The phrase itself is a corruption of “for all intents and purposes”. As others have pointed out, it’s often abused.
Used properly, it’s most often used to signal that two things are extremely similar but not identical - it acknowledges a difference between things being compared while placing an emphasis on their functional equivalence. It can be used to emphasize that you’re talking about utility rather than form or to soften hyperbole or to indicate that the author is aware of his/her use of hyperbole.

And from my perspective, extents serves me better in clarifying what I think of current AI... as intents imply people are purposefully using the term AI in order to make AI appear to be here much faster than it is...

My only point to my post was to play with the term “pretty stupid”... as if one is pretty then stupid is over looked, and in my second on this “joke” , post the punchline was included in the same post... as the pretty m8 grants pass for a stupid game

Why i digressed into ai is that Stalkfish points out all games are stupid... and since a simple calculator is considered AI i wanted to point out that it is a mere calculator, not AI...
And that although Advanced Chess will make better grandmasters, (the greatest example Anand) playing advanced chess with an opponent not playing advanced chess will only bring about stupid games... and should not be a thing...
Yet we are all beset upon by such measures when we are playing ...
And to sum it up, is mah posted game “really” stupid, or is it a Non assisted player playing another non assisted player, and should be commended rather than labeled as stupid...
That is it, and unfortunately i get grammar police, and diction modelers expressing my misuse of colloquial language be the topic of interest, not the idea that chess ngns are not AI, that although we are trying as a specie to develop artificial thought, and even with phrasing our language to point to it, this is merely a group dream not a reality...
Would rather argue why the ngns are not AI than to belabor the fact that i want to use extent rather than intent, because of the framework of language referencing AI is intended to promote the fact that AI is here, and extent means simply “they” are intending this be so...
Again, poorly written or not, if all the argument you want to promote is the mechanics of writing... then you win... simply won
Of course i am not too dumb that i dont get the hint to try and be more savvy in my written account of my narrative...
Please take into consideration that things written in a particular fashion, could be meant to be? And since you had not understood it, perhaps you were not the one to be the official representative of those needing to respond and comment because of its misuse of language...
I misspell as well, i even tell the spell check that Beleif is the same as belief
But my Mnentrics are set within my brain, and although i take hints on occasion... i am a slow changer... and school ? That remark was how much you descended upon my prose and since you went to school enough to tell me how wrong i am there, you could also have the same curtesy to have read the missive, and not announce that you “skimmed” and cant comprehend
As for trolling, i assure you, i play a lot, but i am not a nasty person just trying to “troll” for what ever a troll gets out of trolling, giggles i expect...

@Acerb8 Ah great, thanks for letting me know and thanks for the heads up about the grammar! I was unaware of that slang before this. This is a wonderful enlightment for me, as this phrase has confused me in previous conversational situations.
